History
Wick FC was formed in 1971, joining 'Bristol Regional League' where we finished as Champions of Div 3.
We then joined 'Bristol District League', winning District 6 in 1973-74, and 'Gloucestershire Football Association' (GFA) Minor Cup in 1974-75. Steady progress was made through the divisions to reach the Senior District, whilst winning the GFA Junior Cup in 1977-78. The Reserve Team was also enjoying success winning 'Bristol District League' Div 5 title in 1979-80.
Success continued in the 1981-82 season with the Seniors taking the District League and the Reserves finishing as runners up in Div 4. 2 years later the Seniors won the 'County of Avon Premier Combination' Div 1 Championship and the Reserves the Div 3 Crown.
In football style we saw relegation, however fortunes began to change when we again won the GFA Junior Cup in 1997-98. We then went from strength to strength winning the Senior District Championship in 1999-2000 gaining promotion back into Div 1 of the 'Avon Prem Combination'.
In 2000/2001, we excelled ourselves with further promotion moving from Div 1 to the 'Avon Premier Combination', Senior Div. Consolidation was our aim the following season (2001/2002), we finished middle of the league, which for our first year in the division was fantastic. In 2002/2003 we again finished in the middle of the league, along with winning the Bristol Premier Cup. The Reserves have been promoted to the Bristol & District Div 2 League, and the A team will be doing their best next season to come fighting back from relegation. Last season, we achieved our highest position in the Bristol Premier Combination Senior Division finishing fourth, missing out on third place on goal difference and runners up by 2 points. The reserves for the consecutive year gain promotion into the Bristol & District division 1 and the A team bounced back from last years disappointment by gaining promotion to division 5.
The support from individual members over the years has been fantastic. Former Club President Phil Waring and his late father Bill helped rejuvenate the clubs fortunes during difficult years, thanks and gratitude are extended to them for their commitment and enthusiasm. Current Chairman, Johnny Towler and Secretary, Dave Beer are leading the club forward with help from the 'Players and Social Committee'. Their aim is to achieve 'County League' status in the near future. Players are committed to regular weekly training and keep each other motivated both on and off the pitch through social and fundraising club activities.
This coming season RMC Wick FC will introduce a Sunday team, managed by Dave Roberts. The team will play in the Bath & District League.
We have approached you within our local community, to support us and to become part of our team. Our aim is to continue to develop the club for the enjoyment of everybody who plays and visits. With the teams we have both on and off the pitch and the commitment consistently demonstrated byeveryone involved, we are sure that our future, is one that will be bright and positive.
